Metro Citizens' Meeting

Challenge

Metroselskap and the City of Copenhagen wanted to hold a digital citizens' meeting with the possibility of interaction. Citizens should have the opportunity to give their opinions on potential linkage of the capital's next metro line, noise pollution, sustainability and many other issues. To meet this need, 6 breakout rooms that livestreamed simultaneously had to be created.

Traditional platforms such as Zoom and Teams were not considered suitable due to quality constraints. Peer-to-peer streaming was also not an option, as it would mean that a single user's internet connection could make the experience unstable for all participants.

Solution

The live event started with an introduction, pre-produced video clips and speakers from Metroselskap and the City of Copenhagen, which was held in our largest studio, Studio 1. After the introduction, viewers could choose which of the 6 topics they wanted to follow and ask questions to. The solution included individual live streaming from 6 of our studios at Østerbro in Copenhagen.

The planning around the platform and setup was a collaborative process, which ensured that everyone present in the studio was clear about the day's agenda. Our approach made it possible to deal with many participants simultaneously and gave citizens a platform to share their views and get answers to their questions.

Results

The result was very positive, as the event allowed many citizens to participate and make their opinion known without the physical constraints that would normally be present. This digital citizen meeting ensured that all questions were answered, creating an interactive and engaging experience for all participants. We are already looking forward to the next project with Metrobolaget and the City of Copenhagen in August 2024.

Avoiding Zoom, Teams and peer-to-peer streaming, our solution ensured a stable, high-quality experience where each participant's engagement was optimized without the risk of unstable connectivity.
